I chose to redesign this ad rather than the one I chose before.
I thought that the composition was confusing and it was hard to see what the ad was selling at first. So I fixed the alignment by centering the image, the logo and the paragraph of information. I thought that the logo “The Art of Clean” should be the first thing the viewer sees, so they know what the ad is selling. Second comes the picture, which shows what the product is. Then third is the paragraph informing us about the product. Then next is the company (Reach) logo, and last the coupon.
Here are a few things I tried:
This ad seems so appropriate for the assignment because it uses design as a pitch for the product. It is interesting even though it seems misleading as to what they are actually selling. I'm not even convinced as to who they're target marketing. Maybe just any artsy class, female? They reeled me in with the animated portrait of a geisha.. :) anywho, I like what you're doing with the second rough. Info is carefully organized and structure is easy to follow.
ReplyDeleteCALLA,
ReplyDeletea great job on your roughs and the way you organized your information. JUST NEED TOMAKE SURE YOU HAVE all the information in their importance. Here are a few notes for Tuesday. Probably not important because you were working so hard on your roughs in class on Thursday
Hierarchy: Image centered and the information up the top
Reach at top to better give product identification
Slogan at top to better identify the tooth brush in the image.
1. the slogan
2. picture because it references of the art of the clean
3. Information because it is describing why we should buy it in reference to the image
4. logo
5. scantron barcode - great link to the web

ReplyDeleteThis is a good solution – but why is it done in black. What does black represent to you? The centrality of the information is a very simple and obvious solution so be careful. There is a dead space at the bottom is dead between the logo and the base – this is not good design. There is also an awkward space between the top text and the frame. Proximity is the answer here. They need to be closer. The 2nd lot of text down is not good either. Calla I think you can do a better job by giving more effort to alternate solutions. This was a simple advertisement that required a great deal of effort to really!! Change the layout.
